In his address to the assembly,
Bishop Allan Bjornberg
reiterated that the ministry of the synod deserves a, “Wow!,” which
is how we might best translate the Easter word, “Alleluia!” And he
reminded those present that the culture and the church will continue
to intersect. “We are bound together in faith, not by experience,”
he said. “But our diverse and divergent experiences can encourage
our mutual witness..”
To that end, Bishop Bjornberg invited the assembly to consider
a time of intentional conversation throughout the next year for the
purpose of connecting with one another and discovering if there
might be yet undiscovered ways of carrying out the mission of the
Church in the Rocky Mountain Synod. The assembly adopted a
resolution mandating this time of conversation.
The only election to occur at this assembly was for Vice
President. Linda Bobbitt was elected, and Don Filegar was thanked
for his years of faithful service.
The Friday evening Thomas Mass was again well received as a
meaningful time of worship. With both lively and contemplative
music, the assembly was invited into a time of being together,
modeling what it means to gather around the table and to be
“together in hope.”
Assembly Offerings Assembly
