Immersion
Experience Details
It is important to note that the week may be overwhelming for
some—physically, emotionally and spiritually. For this reason we have a
minimum age of 15 for participants. We also limit the size of each group to
13, with a minimum of seven.
Housing:
Groups stay in a
small house complete with kitchen, living room, dining area, bunks, a
shower, towels, and linens.
Meals:
The groups
themselves prepare most meals during the week. There are 2-3 optional times
for restaurant dining. It is encouraged that groups come with some idea of
what groceries to buy for the week (there is time for shopping Saturday
evening after arrival) and who from the group will be responsible for
cooking/cleaning up. You will also have the opportunity to prepare the
Tuesday night meal for our speaker, Doctora Mendoza, whose clinic in Juarez
we will visit later in the week. Some weeks we have a community cookout
with the Cristo Rey congregation, for which your group would be responsible
for preparing a portion of the food.
Costs:
$300 per person participant fee
$200 non-refundable deposit to secure date (applies toward group total)
$50
cash gratuity for house cleaning
Travel to and from El Paso
Meals
Personal expenses (may
include bridge toll)
We ask that your group send a $200 deposit to confirm your
registration and the dates of your week. This
deposit will be subtracted from the total of
your group
cost. Your reservation
will be complete upon receipt of your $200 deposit. We encourage you to make
your plans as soon as possible, as our calendar fills quickly.
Half the total cost for your group is due one month prior to the start of
your week. (The deadline for individual cancellations is also one month
prior to the immersion start date). The remaining balance is due two weeks
before your arrival.
Transportation
While in El Paso/Juarez, Cristo Rey will provide your group with all
transportation, including trips to and from the airport.
Climate
El Paso/Juarez is very hot in the summer. Spring is lovely, but windy.
December to February highs are in the 50s.
Language
Spanish language skills are helpful, not necessary.
