Marty Haugen & Susan Briehl Present Concerts
and Workshop Feb. 9 & 10 That You May Have Life is
the theme of Haugen's new musical and a pre-Lenten workshop focussing on
the Three Days of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil. An
event

Two concerts are February 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. at St.
Dominic Roman Catholic Parish, 3035 West 29th Avenue in Denver. A free
will offering will be received to benefit the music program at St.
Dominic. $20 is the suggested donation.
The workshop will take
place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10 at Bethany
Lutheran Church, Cherry Hills Village, CO. Cost is $20 per person or $15
per person for congregational groups of three or more. The cost includes
lunch. Please mail the registration form so it is received in the RMS
office on or before February 1 (so send it in BEFORE attending Theological
Conference next week!).
Celebrate Treasures, Old and New Exploring and
Expanding Worship Resources Events are scheduled this winter
beginning again in January to introduce the new Evangelical Lutheran
Worship book. Cost for groups of six is $100 Cost for an individual is
$20 Cost includes lunch and a copy of the Worship book. A registration
form is available
to be downloaded.
Please register at least one week prior
to the event you will be attending so that appropriate arrangements may be
made for lunch.

Christ the King (South Jordan, Utah) First Worship
Service We will have our first worship in March 2007. In order to
start worship, we will need a few items like: Portable professional
keyboard, stand, bench, and case; stoneware communion set; communion tray
set for 160 small cups; sacramental linens: 2 corporals, 1 pall and 6
purificators; altar cloth; processional cross and stand; wheeled storage
containers; laptop computer; projector for computer; folding tables 2-4"
and 2-8"; candles and candlesticks (for on altar); candle lighter; and
collection plates or baskets.

welcomed, or if you would like to contribute all of the funds for a
specific item, please contact Jim Hytjan at

Congregation Constitution Revisions If your
congregation revised its constitution or bylaws recently, remember to send
a copy of the complete constitution and bylaws to Katherine Cruson,
Secretary of the RMS. A separate list of the changes is also helpful. Mail

Theological Conference is January 29-31 A corrected
map to the Theological Conference event is available as a .pdf
file. The map has been corrected to note that the exit from the south
is marked as the "CIRCLE DRIVE" exit (not LAKE AVE) exit.
And the turn-off from Nevada is onto E Cheyenne Mountain Drive (not
S). Thanks for the sharp eyes who pointed this out! You might want
to print a new, corrected copy. Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m., buffet
dinner may be enjoyed anytime between 6 and 7:30 p.m., and opening worship
is at 7:30 p.m. Note: anyone who has not submitted airline flight times
must do so if planning to use the airport shuttle.
Are the Conference Crosses Still Travelling? The
desire is that the crosses presented and sent out at the conclusion of
last year's synod assembly will visit every congregation in the synod. The
deadline for their travels has been extended until May 1! Please be
attentive to welcoming the cross in your congregation and sending it on
its way!
RMS Immigration DVD is Now Available Hear stories from two
ELCA congregations in Denver: Iglesia Luterana Cristo Rey and HKBP
Indonesian congregation. A DVD, created by the Rocky Mountain Synod Task
Force on Immigration, is now available. A study guide is nearly completed.

March 19 is Lutheran Day at the Legislature -
Colorado Lutheran Day at the Legislature & Bishop's Luncheon,
an annual program of Lutheran Advocacy Ministry - Colorado, will take
place Monday, March 19, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Colorado History
Museum, Denver. Topics will include:
Faith & Politics: a Lutheran Perspective
Caring for Creation: Environmental Issues
Issues Impacting Seniors
2007 Advocacy Priorities Watch for registration materials in early

Holy Love Mission Trip June 2007 Holy Love
Lutheran Church of Aurora has scheduled their Senior High Mission Team
trip to Puerto Rico for June 10th-16th.
Immersion Trip to Haiti
in June Vicar Julie McNitt plans to take a group of people from
Atonement Lutheran Church, Boulder and Atonement Lutheran Church, Denver
to Haiti from June 11 to 27.
Casper Lutheran Youth Ministry Trip
July 2007 A mission opportunity for senior high youth and adults is
planned with the help of the Rainbow Trails Lutheran Bible Camp and Casa
por Cristo, an organization that builds houses for families in Juarez,
Mexico. The trip is planned for July 1 -7.
Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church, Ft. Collins Has Two Trips Planned Trip to Somoto,
Nicaragua: July 14-21 or 21-28 or July 28-Aug 4; build houses, medical
work, help children. Pine Ridge, South Dakota, Servant Trip: July
21-26; repair houses; food prep for the crew and cultural education at
Pine Ridge Retreat Center.
Lord of the Valley, Granby Plans a
Trip to Somoto, Nicaragua 2007 Lord of the Valley is partnering
with Trinity Lutheran Church, Loveland and the Loveland Habitat for
Humanity to build houses, help distribute medical supplies and teach
Vacation Bible School at a local church in one of the poorest areas in
Central America. The trip is scheduled for July 28 to August 4

Acts of the Apostles /
Hechos de los Apóstoles All are welcome to join Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church and Iglesia Luterana Cristo Rey in an experiment with
bilingual Bible study. Beginning Monday, February 5, at 7pm, at Good
Shepherd (770 South Federal Blvd, Denver), we will be reading and
discussing highlights of the book of Acts in English and Spanish. This is
an excellent opportunity for folks with some Spanish skills to
practice and expand their vocabulary—especially the vocabulary of the

English as a Second Language Beginning
February 8, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (770 South Federal Blvd.,
Denver) will be offering English classes for Spanish speaking individuals.
The classes are being planned for Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The
cost is $10 for books and $10 for the eight (8) week course with economic
assistance available. Free child care is being offered during the class.

Celebrating Pastor Glusenkamp's 25 Years in
Ministry Bethany Lutheran Church will be celebrating Pastor Ron
Glusenkamp's 25 years in ministry with the Souper Bowl celebration on
Sunday, February 4 beginning at the church, 4500 East Hampden Avenue in
Cherry Hills Village. Participants will have a soup luncheon at noon and
then make deliveries of soup/bread to homebound church members from 2-
4pm. RSVP's are requested, so please contact the church office at

Peace in Iraq
Rally in Denver on January 27 In conjunction with rallies around
the country, including a massive national peace march in Washington D.C.,
a "PEACE IN IRAQ" rally will take place Saturday, January 27, at noon on
the west side steps of the Capitol in Denver. This event is co-sponsored
by Ken Gordon, the majority leader in the Colorado Senate, the Public
Policy Commission of The Interfaith Alliance of Colorado which supports "a
Colorado based on the values and principles of mutual respect, religious
diversity, inclusiveness, compassion, and justice" and the Peace, Liberty,
and Justice Task Force at the Jefferson Unitarian Church in Golden. There
will be opportunities to sign petitions regarding ending the war in Iraq.

Habitat for Humanity Service
Opportunity Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver works in
partnership with God and people from all walks of life to build decent,
affordable houses in which people can live and grow into all that God
intended. They are holding orientation sessions in February for anyone
interested in applying to their homeownership program. Information and
dates for these orientation sessions are on the web as a .pdf

TIA-CO Public Policy Forum in February A public policy
forum titled Re-discovering the Common Good in Colorado: Prospects for
2007 will be held on Sunday, February 11 from 3-5 p.m. at Cameron United
Methodist Church. The church is located at 1600 South Pearl Street in
Denver.
Featured at the forum will be: the Bell Policy Center;
Terri McMaster, Lutheran Advocacy Ministry; Pat Steadman of
Mendez-Steadman and Associates; and State Legislative Leadership

Christian-Muslim Studies Speaker in Fort Collins On
Sunday February 11, Dr. Mark Swanson, Professor of Christian-Muslim
Studies and Interfaith Relations, Lutheran School of Theology-Chicago
(LSTC) will speak at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 2000 South Lemay
Avenue, Fort Collins, Colorado at 2 p.m. The title of his presentation is:
“Living with Difference”. The public is invited.
Retreat for
Lutheran Foster Families "Chosen and Beloved" is the theme
of a spiritual foster family retreat, March 16-18, 2007, from 6 p.m.
Friday until 10 a.m. Sunday at Camp Idrahaje near Bailey,
Colorado.
As part of Mary Black's Diaconal Ministry project, she is
looking for five Lutheran foster families to connect with King of Glory
Lutheran Church congregation in Arvada for a weekend of conversation,
education and worship, lifting up this unique and often invisible
ministry. This retreat weekend will be at no cost to the families. Contact

Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp's 50th Anniversary Gala Come
celebrate in Mile High style when Rainbow Trail celebrates its anniversary
with an evening of dinner, dancing and reminiscing on Saturday, February
17 at 6:00 p.m. The event will take place at Invesco Field at Mile High
Stadium in Denver, Colorado. Reservation and lodging information is

Congregation Observers Invited to 2007 Churchwide
Assembly Each congregation of the ELCA may register with the
secretary one congregation observer for the Churchwide Assembly prior to
May 31. An observer has reserved seating in the observers section and will
receive all assembly materials. Observers have neither voice nor vote. The
registration fee is $150 Other costs, such as housing, meals, and
transportation, are the responsibility of the observer or sending

LSM
and ALOA Team Up for Fourth Lutherhostel The Association of
Lutheran Older Adults (ALOA) is an inter-Lutheran national movement
affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and recognized
as a social ministry organization of the Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod.
ALOA is the only national inter-Lutheran organization focused on
identifying and serving the needs and interests of Lutheran older adults,
with a focus on working with and through congregations, districts, synods
and other service ministry organizations to encourage senior ministry and
senior involvement locally, regionally, nationally, and
internationally.
Lutheran Summer Music (LSM) and Association of
Lutheran Older Adults will join together in offfering the Minnesota
Lutherhostel, a five-day musical feast at Gustavus Adolphus College in St.
