Because
of Theological Conference next week, there will be no
eConnection newsletter. This bonus issue includes the
prayers for the following week (February
3).
THEOLOGICAL
CONFERENCE Several have asked for the
schedule, especially commuters planning their week. The schedule is
available as a .pdf.
Registration is from 3
to 6 p.m. Judy Hagge will be staffing the
registration table. A few volunteers would be helpful
for preparing nametags and meal tickets at 2 p.m. If
you're there early, feel free to volunteer a little of
your time.

Fourth Sunday
after the Epiphany God our
deliverer,
you walk with the meek and the poor, the
compassionate and those who mourn, and you call us to
walk humbly with you. When we are foolish, be our
wisdom;when we are weak, be our strength; that, as we
learn to do justice and to love mercy, your rule may
come as blessing. Amen.

2008 RMS
Intents Due TODAY!
The Rocky Mountain Synod's fiscal year ends on
January 31, so we are looking ahead to the new year
which begins on February 1. It is imperative that we
receive congregation statements of intent for the new
year by January 25. An online form at
www.rmselca.org/intent makes the process quick
and easy. That
link also includes a link to the ELCA's online report
form for 2007 which is to be completed by February
15. Hunger Contributions Due Jan. 31It's time to make sure ALL the
hunger dollars your congregation collected get to the
people who need them! Please remind your treasurer that
all offerings need to be RECEIVED by the synod office
before January 31 in order to be counted in the 2007
fiscal year. As of January 4, the World Hunger Appeal
and Stand with Africa had received just under $450,000
from the Rocky Mountain Synod. While that is
slightly ahead of the same point during the 2006 fiscal
year, we have over $100,000 to go before we reach the
total amount contributed in all of 2006. We
can easily surpass last year's amazing giving...but the
checks need to pour in NOW!
Youth Gathering Lost and
Found: 1) grey hoodie

yours!

format1. Because of the amazing staff of the
Lutheran Center in Mexico: they are knowledgeable,
helpful, skilled, trusted, and compassionate! 2.
To learn: about the history, politics, and economics, of
Mexico, globalization, and immigration. 3. To
learn: from our brothers and sisters in Mexico what it
means to be community. 4.To experience Mexico:
the food, culture, language, religion, homes and
transportation. 5. To connect and make new
friends: with fellow travelers and with our brothers and
sisters in Mexico. 6. Because our eyes were
opened: to the reality of modern Mexico through stories
and experiences. 7. To be motivated: to seek
justice (and yet not despair that there is so much to
do). 8. Because the trip is: affordable and
comfortable, and a safe way to experience Mexico (and
much different from a regular vacation!). 9. To
explore: what we can do right now at home to act out of
love and compassion in our churches and
communities. 10. Because of the opportunities:
for Bible study, worship, discussion, socializing, and
reflection. |
