Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

Most holy and eternal God, you dwell in the heights of heaven, yet you walk among those who refuse to see you. Hold out your hand to those who rebel against you, and free us from chains that bind us, that we may be healed by Christ and proclaim his saving deeds to all the world.
Amen

Pastor Paul Joncas: Biking for MS
While Paul Joncas has not been able to ride a regular bicycle since shortly after his diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, he is now able to ride a recumbent tricycle. He writes, "Believe it or not, it is easier for me to ride the recumbent tricycle 10 miles than to walk one block due to the constant vertigo that has been my companion for over 2 and 1/2 years." He has signed up for the upcoming Colorado MS Bike Ride, July 7-8, and his goal is to ride between 30 and 40 miles each day. You may sponsor him online as a rider in Team Sugar Bee.. You may also send a contribution to him at P.O. Box 152, Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545. He writes, "I appreciate your support and look forward to letting you know how I do."

Bikes for Madagascar!
The Don Johnson Memorial Bike Team is participating in Ride the Rockies, a 7-day, 422 mile bicycle trek through the Colorado Rocky Mountains from June 17-22, 2007. Don Johnson was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Collins, professor at Colorado State University, and husband of Sharon Johnson, former director of Lutheran Social Services of Northern Colorado. Don died tragically last summer from a fall on Horsetooth Mountain. He was an avid bicyclist and rode in Ride the Rockies on two occasions. In his honor Michaele Johnson (his daughter), Diana Linden, Jim Linden, Kevin Mabry, Vince Murphy, and Will Reents will be attempting the challenging Ride the Rockies, starting in Frisco and riding over Rabbit Ears Pass and Independence Pass in a loop back to Frisco.

The Team is using this opportunity to raise money to purchase bicycles for pastors, teachers, church workers, and health care workers in the Rocky Mountain Synod's companion synods in Madagascar to enable them to reach people in rural areas. Donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated and will be matched by Thrivent for Lutherans. Please make check payable to Rocky Mountain Synod and indicate on the memo line that it is for Seeds of Hope: Bikes for Madagascar. Checks may be sent directly to the Rocky Mountain Synod office at 455 Sherman Street, Suite 160, Denver, CO 80203. Please contact Diana Linden at diana@stpauldenver.org or 720-280-0998 with questions.

ELCA Churchwide
  Lutheran Revival
"The Story of Lutheran Revival"

Augsburg Fortress is pleased to present "The Story of Lutheran Revival," an evangelizing church DVD. This resource can be used in conjunction with the 2005 resource titled "Renewing the Passion - a guide to spiritual revival." A discussion guide is inside the pocket of the DVD that will guide and aid readers in exploring what revival means for Lutherans. Through these resources, leaders may initiate a process of preparing, mentally and spiritually, to engage in spiritual renewal services throughout the ELCA.

One of the goals of this DVD is to include the entire church in conversations of spiritual renewal. As described by ELCA leaders, we too can claim the word "Revival" as another way of being refreshed for our journey and mission ministry. The unit of Evangelical Outreach and Congregation Mission (EOCM) offers a Revivalist Network of preachers and teachers to be the keynote preachers for your contextual revivals or spiritual renewal services.

The Rocky Mountain Synod has a couple of copies of the DVD available that may be reserved and checked out. Simply call the office at 303-777-6700 (800-525- 0462) or send an email message to jladd-horkey@rmselca.org . You may also order copies of the DVD from Augsburg Fortress by calling the toll free number (800-328-4648) or by going online.

Do A GoodSearch for a Good Cause

How many times a week do you use an Internet search engine like Yahoo!, Google, or Ask.com? For many people, the answer is probably "A whole bunch." What if Lutheran Disaster Response earned a penny every time you performed such a search? Now it's possible.

GoodSearch.com is a new search Web site that donates half of its revenue (about one penny per search) to the charity of the searcher's choice. You use it just as you would any search engine and GoodSearch is powered by Yahoo! so you are guaranteed good search results.

To start using GoodSearch, go to www.goodsearch.com. You will see two boxes -- the search box and a box that says "Who do you GoodSearch for?" Simply enter in "LDR" and start searching. You can even download a GoodSearch toolbar for your Internet browser so that you have a search function always at your fingertips.

A penny for every search may not seem like much but imagine if 1,000 people searched twice each day using GoodSearch. Over the course of a year, LDR would make over $7000. GoodSearch makes it easy to support your favorite non-profit organization and all you have to do is something that you already do anyway.

Please spread the word about GoodSearch and start searching for Lutheran Disaster Response today!
