prayer

O God, our teacher and our guide,
you draw us to yourself
and welcome us as beloved children.
Help us to lay aside our envy and selfish ambition,
that we may walk in your ways of wisdom and understanding

NEW: Vision, Passion, Action Blog

on the RMS web log (blog!)

A "blog" is short for "web log" and it is a way to invite conversation about topics and issues. The new RMS weblog is designed to facilitate conversation about the Vision, Passion, Action process. The address of the RMS blog is www.rmselc a.blogspot.com

Response on the blog...

"...Personally, I believe that for most Lutherans our relationship with God is Private. It isn't something we discuss or feel comfortable discussing. Our relationship with our "neighbors" is personal and after we know someone for a while we may discuss our faith with them. And finally our Public life is our corporate worship. The question then becomes how do we move our private and personal faith relationships into the public sphere? Can we? And also, how do we extend our public faith out of the church building and into the community?"

Hunger No More: Faces Behind the Facts
A powerful TV documentary presented by the National Council of Churches, is now being shown on NBC affiliates. It takes an unflinching look at the persistent problem of hunger in the 21st Century. . . and offers solutions.

Most of us don’t often ask where our next meal is coming from. But for millions of Americans and nearly a billion people worldwide, such food insecurity is a daily reality. “Hunger No More: Faces Behind the Facts” approaches hunger from the perspective of faith, declaring that hunger is more than a social issue.

The program will be aired on Denver's Channel 9, NBC, on October 8, 5-6 am....so set your DVRs, TIVOs, VCRs, etc...so you can watch it at a more convenient time...and show it to your congregation! Please check with your local NBC station for airtimes.

A one-page, folded study guide may be downloaded.
