A Fun Event for the Urban
Servant Corps and YOU!!!
(and we're not talking about the prayer walk/servant
stomp!)
The Colfax Marathon is
Sunday,
May 18. Come run, walk, or just plain help out to raise money for
the Urban Servant Corps at the 3rd Annual Colfax
Marathon! If you haven't heard of this relatively new
marathon yet, check it out! A first year relay runner
for USC found the marathon to be an amazing experience.
And what better way to raise money for the USC! If you
are not able to run/walk/volunteer you can also send a
donation to the USC office 1660 Ogden St. Denver, CO
80218.
Please
remember to note USC as your Charity when registering,
once you register you can not go back and add a charity.
If you have already registered for the marathon you can
still raise money for the USC but you won't be
registered as an UCS runner...but we will still accept
you! And drop us a line if you have any questions.
Read more on how you can participate in this event.
There are both information and links on the four ways to
be involved: run/walk the full marathon, run/walk the ½
marathon, run/walk in a relay, or volunteer in a number of ways.
Urban Servant Corps is a Charity Partner of the
Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon! The Colfax Marathon
invites non-profit organizations to join as Charity
Partners, as a way to fundraise for their organization
while recruiting runners, walkers, and volunteers for
the marathon, half marathon, and team relay race.

OCTOBER 2008

DECEMBER 2008
JULY 2009
2009 ELCA Youth Gathering
Start planning NOW for the 2009 ELCA YOUTH GATHERING in New Orleans
July 22-26, 2009.
This year the Gathering is being offered only one week -- July 22-26,
instead of two different times as has happened in the most recent past.
36,000 people will join together -- that is about 1/6 of the population
in the city of New Orleans. Pastor Kristi Beebe is the Rocky Mountain
Synod's coordinator for the event. She asks that congregations get her
the name of the congregation's contact person (clergy or other rostered
leader, paid or volunteer youth worker, or simply the most interested
parent or other adult). She can then continue to feed information about
this upcoming Youth Gathering to all of the congregational contacts in
the synod. The ELCA's website for Youth Ministries is also being
regularly updated with information, so please check it out from time to
time.
