Betela Dedicates New Housing
Gifts from the Rocky Mountain Synod to the Seeds of Hope campaign for our companion synods have resulted in the dedication of new student housing at Betela Seminary in Madagascar. Photos.

A church as vibrant and alive as the Malagasy Lutheran Church faces exciting and sometimes overwhelming challenges as it ministers in a context of chronic poverty and political uncertainty. Developing capable leaders is essential.

 You can participate in equipping leaders for the church in Madagascar by contributing to Seeds of Hope, a fund that will support leadership development projects in our Companion Synods of Mahajanga and Antsiranana.

Seeds of Hope has set "Leadership Development" as its primary focus for the immediate future. Three projects have been identified:

New buildings on the campus of Betela Seminary where there is a critical shortage of housing for students and professors;

Long term maintenance and development plan for the solar lighting and electricity which has become so very valuable to the Antsiranana Synods.

Annual theological - continuing education meetings for the pastors and women theologians in Mahajanga and Antsiranana Synods.

All three of these projects were identified and developed in consultation with our partners in ministry in our Companion Synods. Your gifts help make dreams become reality!

Solar panels at Betela were installed through gifts from RMS. Part of "Seeds of Hope" funds go to the on-going maintenance and development of the solar lighting system.












RMS visitors were warmly welcomed to the seminary campus in 2000. "Seeds of Hope" project funds will build student and faculty housing to replace substandard buildings currently in use.
