about the band:
FIRST IS LAST

Hi! This is Dave from First Is Last, trying a new way at writing a band bio. You see, most band biographies seem like they’re written by a third person gushing about the accomplishments and awesomeness of a band. The fact is that nine times out of ten the band actually wrote the bio themselves. And that just seems silly to me!

So here’s the deal – First Is Last is just four guys who love God, and love the fact that God blessed them with the ability to have fun making music together.

Joe plays guitar, sings, writes songs, and likes to hide his birthday money in his underwear drawer.

Ben plays drums and has worn the same outfit since 1992.

Russ plays lead guitar, fights fires, and rescues cats from trees (he’s an actual fireman!).

And as for me, I play bass and yoyo. We’ve seen all sides of the music industry from playing for small youth groups to opening up for bands like Relient K, Hawk Nelson, Skillet, and Switchfoot (although we were called by a different name back then).

But at the end of the day what we all realized is that we just love making music that praises God and brings others closer to God, and we have a special passion for working with youth.

No attitudes, no egos, and no faking it. We look forward to sharing worship with you, hanging out at meals, and overall just having a great time! See you in November!
