History

History

The ELCA is a result of a merger among The American Lutheran Church (ALC), the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) and the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches (AELC) (which had earlier withdrawn from the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod after 1975). The three churches agreed to unite in 1982. They formed a 70-member Commission for a New Lutheran Church, which planned the merger.

3E Stories

The power of story.  By grace, we discover ourselves to be key characters in God’s story of love for and redemption of the world in Christ Jesus. When we share the work and results of 3E in the form of story, and not merely in the reporting of abstract statistics, people are moved in their hearts and become stakeholders in the work of 3E.

I believe that because of sharing information and asking for thoughtful and prayerful consideration to re-evaluate their giving made an impression on many in the congregation as the overall giving was increased considerably.  Just seeing the numbers and how a small increase would make a big difference inspired me to give more.
