"Blessings, Witness, Hope" was first shown at the Rocky Mountain Synod Assembly, April 27, 2012, to give thanks for the 18 years that Bishop Allan Bjornberg has served as a synod bishop in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Rocky Mountain Synod is comprised of 165 congregations in Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas.

The Rocky Mountain Synod expressed gratitude to Bishop Allan Bjornberg for his eighteen years serving as bishop by presenting to him a commissioned hymn, "Lift up your Eyes" with text by Susan Briehl and tune by Mark Mummert. The hymn weaves together texts from the psalms with images of the Rocky Mountain Synod, which capture our "Landscapes of Faith," which was the assembly theme.
