The 2013 assembly theme was a continuation of our year-long theme: Deeply Rooted - Bearing Fruit. As faith communities rooted in the Good News, congregations in the Rocky Mountain Synod are bearing fruit here at home and throughout the world through the work and mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The assembly took place at the beautiful Embassy Suites on I-25 in Loveland, Colorado.
"Deeply Rooted, Bearing Fruit"
Art student Tara Smith created an amazing tree of "participatory art" that was the focal point of the assembly hall. Prior to the assembly, members of congregations were invited to send in pieces of cardboard "bark" with writings about how they were "deeply rooted." They also submitted paper "leaves" with writings about how they are "bearing fruit." The video below, created by Dale Horkey, shows how the tree was assembled and "blossomed" during the assembly:
We express profound gratitude for the generous offerings received at the assembly which totalled $10652.09.
