The following resolutions were passed during the 2002 Fall Business Convention
of the Rocky Mountain Synodical Women's Organization, held Oct. 11 - 13, 2002
in Denver, CO:
Madagascar | Sudan

| Resolution 1 - Madagascar |
| Whereas |
the Rocky Mountain Synodical Women's Organization has had a long standing relationship with our Companion Synods, Mahajanga and Antsiranana, in Madagascar through visits by members of the Rocky Mountain Synod and the Rocky Mountain Synodical Women's Organization to Madagascar and visits by sisters and brothers from Madagascar to the Rocky Mountain Synod; and |
| Whereas |
Stephanie Wilson from the Rocky Mountain
Synodical Women's Organization visited Madagascar in November 2001 as part
of the Women of the ELCA/Division for Global Mission Global Advocates
program; and |
| Whereas |
Women of the ELCA are committed to promote
healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world; therefore |
| Be it resolved that |
delegates and attendees at this convention
encourage the women in their units to pray for our sisters and brothers in
Madagascar; and |
| Be it further resolved that |
delegates and attendees at this convention
encourage the women in their units to learn more about our Companion
Synods in Madagascar and the global partnership we share by making use of
available resources on Madagascar (speakers, videos, material from
Division for Global Mission, etc.); and |
| Be it further resolved that |
the Rocky Mountain Synodical Women's
Organization continue to keep the partnership with our Companion Synods
visible by articles in the Views from the Rockies and displays,
programming and projects at cluster and synodical events. |

| Resolution 2 - Sudan |
| Whereas |
Women of the ELCA are committed to promoting healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world; and |
| Whereas |
Dr. Pauline Riak, Director of SWAN (Sudanese
Women's Association in Nairobi), was a speaker at the Fifth Triennial
Convention of Women of the ELCA in Philadelphia and we have a sister from
Sudan present with us at this convention; and |
| Whereas |
the lives of many people in Sudan are in
danger; |
| Be it resolved that |
delegates and attendees at this convention
encourage the women in their units to pray for peace in Sudan; and |
| Be it further resolved that |
delegates and attendees at this convention
encourage the women in their units to take appropriate actions to support
our Sudanese sisters and brothers through advocacy, refugee sponsorship
and prayer. |
