WOMEN'S EVENT WAS "SPECTACULAR"
The weekend of Sept 24-26 marked the 2004 biennial convention of Women of the
ELCA in the Rocky Mountain Region. The Women of the ELCA welcomed over 200 people
to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in a spectacular event which featured three keynote speakers: Bishop Allan Bjornberg, Inez Torres Davis, and Pastor Rosemary Sanchez Guzman.
A worshipful atmosphere and inspiring worship services throughout the Conference were highlights and facilitated by Pastor Anne Morawski and five women who are all pastors in the New Mexico Conference. The altar and cross were carved especially for the Conference by Roberto Gonzales of the De Colores Galleria in Old Town.
Offerings were received for Lutheran Social Ministry Organizations: Lutheran Family Services of Colorado, Lutheran Social Service of Utah, LutherCare Incorporated of Wyoming, Lutheran Office of Governmental Ministry in New Mexico, and Lutheran Social Services of the South in Texas. Offerings were also received for all Campus Ministries throughout the Synod.
Submitted by outgoing President, Leslie Whited-Vance.
