Ties that Bind

Mother’s Day Event – We held an afternoon tea where everyone wore hats and gloves. We spread a quilt in the center of the floor where the children gathered while a professional storyteller entertained them.
Tea was served in tea pots from a member’s collection and we had a buffet with English tea goodies.

Mount Calvary Lutheran, Colorado Springs
Lydia circle has a secret prayer partner all year. Partners are revealed at the Christmas party. We pray for each other, send cards for Birthdays and Anniversaries. Keep track of each other’s lives.

St. Mark’s Lutheran, Aurora, CO
Each spring, we meet for a fellowship meal (either a Mother-Daughter-Friend luncheon or Prayer Tree). We also have a secret pals program that runs year long.

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Salt Lake City, UT
Small groups have loosely formed themselves out of common interests/needs.
Little Lutherans – a weekly play group for Mom’s and kids
Mom’s Morning Out – a weekly babysitting co-op
Mom’s Night Out - monthly fellowship
Women’s Saturday Lunch – monthly fellowship
Women’s Book Club – monthly group and discusses works of female authors

First Lutheran, Longmont, CO
We held a garden party on a Saturday morning. A speaker discussed sowing seeds with us. Each attendee received a seed packet. Two workshops were held: one on flower arrangement and one on care of indoor and outdoor plants.

All Saints Lutheran, Albuquerque, NM
We held a “High Tea” just for fun, and as a community building activity this last August. Women of the congregation brought wedding gowns and pictures for display. Doilies, flowers, and antiques decorated the tables. A professor gave a poetry reading to the well-dressed crowd. We had a lot of fun!

Holy Love Lutheran, Aurora, CO
We held a mother-daughter-best friend’s luncheon with a hat parade and had a wonderful turnout. We catered the cake and provided the beverages. Attendees brought a salad for potluck. We had special music and a game show “I Know Her Best.”

Holy Love Lutheran, Aurora, CO
We held our annual fall retreat at Messiah Mountain (near Morrison). Pastor Barb Martens of Urban Servant Corp led us as we “Walked with the Spirit” throughout the seasons of Advent. Attendees participated in a foot washing ceremony. In-Kind donations were collected for Baby Buds, a non-profit organization that helps single mothers get back on their feet and gives them self esteem.

Our Savior’s Lutheran, Greeley, CO
We have two women’s Bible study groups that choose what they want to study (not always the current LWT Bible study). They have sponsored three retreats that include all women. For two years in a row we have had an outdoor event on a farm around a bonfire, including all women high school age and older. The bonfire event has been very successful at blending age groups and creating support for one another.

Augustana Lutheran, Denver, CO
We hold an All-Daughters Tea in the afternoon of the second Saturday in May. We make it very festive!

Bethel Lutheran, Aurora, CO
”Oh the Places We’ll Go!”
We did a “hat” skit at our last quarterly meeting – a Saturday morning brunch. We decorated the hats to depict the involvement of the Women of Bethel from 50 years ago to now … and into the future. It was great history for our younger members and inspiring for everyone to hear about future plans.

St. Paul Lutheran, Calhan, CO
We hold a monthly “Mother’s Night on the Town.” We provide child care and transportation for working (inside or outside the home) mothers. Smiles are a must!

Our Savior’s Lutheran, Roy, UT
Our annual advent brunch will be held the first Saturday in December. It is a wonderful way to begin this season of preparation, focusing ourselves on the “Reason for the Season.”

American Lutheran, Grand Junction, CO
When things gear up in the fall, we have an All-Women coffee on Sunday morning. We serve goodies and share all of the circles’, quilters’, book studies, and prayer groups’ activities that are happening. We invite them to join us!
