Organist and/or Pianist

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, Colorado is seeking an organist and/or pianist to support all worship services and provide music ministry to our congregation. The ideal candidate will exhibit the following qualifications:

  • Be proficient on organ and/or piano; responsible for personal musical preparation.
  • Possess a varied repertoire and improvisational abilities.
  • Provide service music (one service per week on Sunday mornings, currently) and communicate musical selections to church staff in a timely manner.
  • Be knowledgeable of classical and contemporary church music.
  • Be a strong accompanist for all musical groups.
  • Possess a good understanding of the church liturgical year.
  • Be responsible for playing for additional services as needed (e.g. Advent – Christmas season, Lent – Easter season).
  • If available, provide music for weddings and funerals, with the right of first refusal.     
  • Assist in securing a backup substitute when absent.
  • Be accountable to, and work closely with, the Pastor.

The Organist and/or Pianist is a paid position with compensation commensurate with skill and experience.  It is anticipated that they will work 5 to 10 hours per week including practice sessions for services and with other musical groups within the congregation.  After discussion with the church staff, it may be possible for the Organist and/or Pianist to provide private lessons.

Chancel Choir Director

Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 East Stuart, Fort Collins, CO is seeking a Director for our Chancel Choir. This is a nine-month position: September-May, 25-27 hours per month, based upon the liturgical season. Weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals and Sunday morning services and special services during the church year (Advent/Christmas, Holy Week/Easter). Annual salary: $6500-7500 depending upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an Associate Degree in Music. A demonstrated knowledge and experience directing vocal ensembles; including church choral music. RMS Property Committee Volunteers (1-year or 2-year term)

The RMS is seeking three or four volunteers to serve on the newly formed Synod Property Committee for a one- or two-year commitment. The primary function of the committee is to advise on strategic planning, resource allocation, and procedural systems related to the care and management of RMS real estate assets. This committee is best served by RMS members who are lay or rostered individuals with a desire to share expertise related to one or more industries: property management, construction management, architecture, environmental issues, property inspection, real estate, or legal issues. The committee reports to the Synod Council, collaborates with on-site property managers and/or advisory committees, and coordinates with the Finance Committee. Members meet in person or virtually at least once a quarter and more often as needed to discuss property management strategies, identify needs, monitor the budget and expenditures, and plan major projects. Members do not need to live in the Denver area.
