Shadin Nassar, who is the regional associate for Middle East and North Africa in the ELCA, will be in the Rocky Mountain Synod on July 28 and 29 to speak about her work. Shadin serves as the regional associate for the Middle East and North Africa, working with the ELCA and its companion church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL), to amplify marginalized voices and advocate for justice. She also coordinates gender justice programs, empowering young women leaders and representing the ELCJHL at international conferences. Her ministry reflects the ELCA’s commitment to accompaniment, mutuality, and standing with those facing oppression, rooted in Christ’s call to love and serve our neighbors.

Shadin’s family runs the Tent of Nations (www.tentofnations.com) which is an educational and ecological family farm southwest of Bethlehem, Palestine. Their mission is to build bridges between people and between people and the land. Through creative resistance, organic farming, and educational programs, they seek to transform despair into hope and promote understanding, respect, and sustainability.

There will be two opportunities to meet Shadin and hear her speak:

  • Tuesday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran in Denver (5000 E. Alameda Ave., Denver). The presentation will be in Christ Chapel with refreshments to follow.
  • Wednesday, July 29 at 6 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran in Boulder, CO (2200 Broadway, Boulder, CO ). Dinner with Shadin will begin at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall with her presentation at 7pm in the Sanctuary.
  • If you can't be there in person, a YouTube link will be available via the registration.
