Lutheran Advocacy Ministry – New Mexico
Lutheran Advocacy Ministry – New Mexico stands as the ELCA’s state-level voice for justice and compassion, rooted in faith and faithful public witness. Since 1984, LAM-NM has worked at the intersection of faith and public policy — advocating for those with little political or economic power, and giving voice to God’s call for dignity, justice, and care for neighbors.
LAM-NM’s work centers especially on alleviating poverty and hunger, promoting affordable housing, ensuring family-sustaining income, accessible health care, and safeguarding care for creation. As the only full-time, faith-based public policy office in New Mexico associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Rocky Mountain Synod, LAM-NM carries forward the ELCA’s commitment to “human dignity, freedom, justice, and peace in the world.” Through lobbying, coalition-building, and empowering congregations and advocates across the state — including members of ecumenical and interfaith partners—LAM-NM engages public officials and communities to shape just policy that uplifts the most vulnerable among us.
Whether you’re a congregation member, community leader, or concerned neighbor: your voice matters. LAM-NM invites you to join the advocacy network—to stay informed, weigh in on policy, and participate in events such as the annual Advocacy Conference, Legislative Briefings, and more. Let us, together, live out a faith that speaks and acts—seeking justice, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and lifting up hope across New Mexico.
