Followup for Ministry of Money Matters

Educate, Equip, Enact presented an opportunity for rostered ministers and church councils of the Rocky Mountain Synod to attend classes online or at the Lutheran Center on October 18, 2017.   Session 1: "Stewardship - Why Numbers Matter" and Session 2: "Church Financials - Accounting 101, Understanding the Technical Side of the Process". Sessions were recorded and videos will be available on this site page soon.

The instructor for the sessions is Bonnie L. Johnson, C.P.A., M.B.A., a Senior Lecturer at California Lutheran University and on the faculty for the Executive Skills for Pastors course taught by CLU.  She is an economist with over 25 years of financial management experience, including 7 years at the CFO level. She has worked in various business environments and industries, including financial institutions, entertainment, manufacturing, education, wholesale distribution, staffing, real estate and not-for-profit.

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Last week 45 people gathered at The Lutheran Center, and another 8 people gathered online for The Ministry of Money Matters workshops led by Bonnie Johnson from California Lutheran University.  Bonnie provided a lot of material as she shared "best practices" from financially healthy congregations in the United States.  Your response to her work has been encouraging.

Unfortunately we had some technology glitches that impaired the online experience, and resulted in a very poor recording to offer.  Bonnie has agreed to record a presentation based on her powerpoint presentation, including some of the material we didn't have time to cover together.  She will break the presentation into several smaller sections, and they will be available to you by Thanksgiving, and will remain available for 6 months.  We will let you know as soon as they are online.

I apologize that we don't have the recordings available immediately, but know that we will have much better quality to offer by proceeding this way.

Thank you for your partnership and leadership in ministry!

Peace,

Pr. Janice Kibler
